Creating a collaborative and inspiring workspace at Ray White Invercargill

When Ray White Invercargill moved to their new premises in 2021, it marked more than just a change of address.

It was a chance to reimagine their workspace and create an environment that truly reflected their brand values — modern, stylish, and premium. With a team of around 25 members, the goal was clear: to design an office that showcases their expertise.

Three years on, new GM Steve Lindsay says:

“It’s clear a collaborative approach prevailed from the outset ensuring the fit-out personified the vibrant, successful, and approachable brand that is Ray White. The transformation complete, the new office space provides an area where our team connects, interacts, and grows together as a performance team.”

Collaborative fit-out with local expertise

Ray White Invercargill partnered with local reseller Metalon South to bring their vision to life. The workstation area features large desks with wooden tops and white partitions, creating a warm, inviting aesthetic that complements the natural light. Wooden slatted walls and glass rooms help define smaller zones while maintaining an open feel, enhancing both acoustics and visual appeal.

For the staff workstations, Buro Metro II chairs* were selected — fully adjustable ergonomic chairs that provide optimal comfort and support. Known for their ergonomic design, the Buro Metro II chairs offer features like adjustable lumbar support, seat depth adjustment, and a breathable mesh back, making them a perfect choice for long hours of desk work. By prioritising these ergonomic solutions, Ray White ensures that their team stays healthy, and can work comfortably and maintain focus throughout the day.

* In Australia, the closest product to the Buro Metro II is the Buro Metro II 24/7, featuring a seat slide for extra adjustability and especially helpful for taller people.

In addition to the workstation seating, the Buro Lindis Mesh chairs were chosen for meeting rooms, and auction events. With a sleek 4-leg design, the Buro Lindis chairs offer a versatile solution for multi-use areas. They can seat up to 45 people in rows during auctions, and their lightweight, stackable design allows for easy setup and storage.

The reception area showcases a welcoming configuration with a three-seater couch and two Konfurb Neo chairs, which can be easily rearranged to suit different needs. This flexibility is key in a dynamic workspace, allowing the space to adapt seamlessly for various activities, from client waiting seating to casual team catch-ups.

The role of office design in team wellbeing

The fit-out was about more than just aesthetics; it was about creating a workspace where the team feels valued and cared for. Thoughtful office design plays a significant role in building a positive workplace culture. Ergonomic furniture choices, like the Buro Metro II chairs, demonstrate a commitment to employee health and comfort, helping to reduce fatigue and mitigate any musculoskeletal damage caused by poor posture.

By prioritising ergonomic design and a welcoming layout, Ray White has fostered a sense of belonging and pride among its team members. New staff, like Jordan, have felt the positive impact from day one.

“Starting a new role at Ray White felt extra special with a beautiful, comfortable chair in my workspace,” Jordan shared. “Walking into a thoughtfully designed, light-filled office made me feel respected and valued. It was like having a cosy bed for my desk — a simple touch that showed I was cared for from day one.”

The result is an office that not only looks good but also enhances the way the team works and interacts. From the auction room to the ergonomic seating, every element of the fit-out contributes to a supportive and vibrant workplace culture.
